Coraopolis Borough Building Proposal

Coraopolis, PA

Core Architects Pittsburgh

Located North of the city of Pittsburgh on the bank of the Ohio River, the proposal for the Coraopolis Borough Building included spatial planning and a feasibility study for all of the Borough's Departments that was to replace the outdated existing Municipal Building.

The proposal included a multistory complex that housed the Police Department, Fire Department, Borough Managers/Council, Water and Sewer Authority Offices, Emergency Management, and the Tax Collector's Office. The design aesthetically models a contemporary interpretation of the classic architecture present in the existing complex, and is also contextually responsive in materiality. Programmatically the interior organization focuses on giving accessibility priority to the borough's emergency responders and raising the Administration/Council to the 2nd story.
