PHH Punxsutawney Community MOB
Penn Highlands Healthcare (PHH)
Punxsutawney, PA - New Construction – 19,600 sq/ft - $6.9 Million
The PHH Punxsutawney Community Medical Building (PCMB) is a next generation facility serving the outpatient needs of the communities in the Jefferson County region of Pennsylvania. PHH was already well established in the Punxsutawney area and the new PCMB further strengthens their position within the region by consolidating multiple healthcare services under one roof, housed in a state-of-the-art facility, situated in a convenient and easily accessible, centralized location.
The new two-story facility occupies a 4.5-acre redeveloped site, and the master plan is designed to accommodate space for a building expansion of approximately 9,600 additional square feet. The first floor clinical spaces include family practice, pediatrics, urgent care, lab, and physical therapy departments. Additional first floor services include optometry and a retail pharmacy. The second floor houses clinical spaces for visiting specialists, cardiology, and infusion departments. An imaging suite includes Xray, mammography, and bone scan services.
Exterior materials were selected for their simplicity, economic value, and durability, incorporating a combination of ground-face CMU and single-skin industrial metal siding, into a balanced contemporary composition. Sustainable design initiatives feature high-performance glazing with integral shading devices, working together as a system to reduce solar heat gain and still provide generous amounts of natural daylighting. Managing the solar heat gain reduces the size and workload required of the mechanical conditioning systems while the abundance of managed natural daylighting decreases the reliance on artificial lighting.
